(Fully Funded)
About the Future Leaders Program
The Future Leaders Program is designed to integrate selected fellows into HIIA’s research environment, allowing them to engage actively with Hungarian foreign policy analysis.
Participants will conduct a mentored research project on regional or thematic issues—such as the Western Balkans, VisegrΓ‘d cooperation, transatlantic relations, energy policy, security strategy, multipolarity, Asia‑Pacific, and connectivity—and contribute to working groups and policy outputs.
The program also includes seminars on leadership, public speaking, media training, and policy writing, as well as opportunities to network with scholars, practitioners, and policymakers in Hungary’s policy ecosystem.
Fellowship Benefits
Selected fellows will receive a fixed‑term contract for approximately 30 hours per week with milestone‑based financial compensation tied to seminar completion, research reports, and their personal research project. International participants are eligible for additional support, including round‑trip airfare to Budapest and a gross monthly housing stipend of approximately 200,000 HUF (around €480). Participants arrange their own accommodation. Visa assistance is provided by HIIA, but securing necessary permits remains the responsibility of the fellow.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent; be under 30 at the time of the program; have a strong academic or work interest in areas such as international relations, political science, history, philosophy, or economics; be proficient in English (all materials and the program are delivered in English); and be prepared to work in person in Budapest for the duration of the fellowship
